August Beer Events

We survived July, but the heat isn’t slowing down and neither are the beer events around town. August is the month of the Great Taste of the Midwest, and this brings a lot of fantastic nationwide breweries to our town to strut their stuff. August 1-9

  • Dexter’s Pub is trying to make room for their Great Taste events. So from Aug 1-9 they will have 1/2 off most Pints and 12oz taps every evening from 6-close.

August 5

  • Alt Brew is hosting a gluten free fish fry and beer night. Beer available from 3-9, with food 4:30-7:30 from Smokin’ Cantina and their gluten free dedicated fryers.

August 7

  • Heritage Tavern is hosting a 7 course pop up dinner from the Isthmus Dining Company. Tickets are $80, and include dinner, beverages, tax, and gratuity. The menu looks amazing, you can find it and purchase tickets at

August 8

  • Brasserie V is having their 9 th anniversary dinner 6:30-9:30. Tickets are $75, this includes 6 courses all paired with specially selected beers and wines. Josh knows what he’s doing, so except some great food and beer at this one!

August 10

  • Starting at 11am, Dexter’s Pub will be hosting an Oskar Blues tap takeover and will have Oskar Blues hot sauce wings on special.

  • Next Door Brewing from 5-10 will be pairing ice cream and sorbet with 4 of their brews. Tickets for $12 include the 4 “beer floats”. Call to make reservations.

  • Mi food cart will be parked outside of Table Wine on Atwood from 5-7. They will have specials on Belgium beers all evening.

August 12 (aka Great Taste Eve)

  • Toppling Goliath tap takeover at Dexter’s Pub

  • Glass Nickel East of Atwood will have special tappings from North Coast, Ballast Point, Bear Republic, Lagunitas and Coronado

  • Mob the House 2016 at House of Brews from 2-10. More than a dozen WI breweries, over 25 different beers, 4 bands, food carts and special tastings. Tickets ($20) get you 6, 10oz pours. A portion of proceeds go to benefit the Wisconsin Brewers Guild.

  • Funk Factory from 3-9 is hosting an “O’so and Friends” event. Underground Food Collective and El Grito Taqueria will have food trucks on site. If you like sour beer, this is a can’t miss event!

  • Starting at 3, Argus will have three special sours from Three Floyds

  • Perennial Artisan Ales will have at least 8 beers on tap at Brasserie V, including some rare and taproom only ales.

August 13

  • The Great Taste of the Midwest, easily the best beer fest in the country. Tickets were $60 (I know it sounds like a lot but it is 100% worth it) but are now sold out. Look on Craigslist or different Facebook groups to try and find one. Sometimes you can even get lucky and find a spare ticket at Olin day of the event.

August 20

  • Beer Olympics at Next Door Brewing. $20/team of 2 and price includes all events (think bags, flip cup, washers, etc)

August 21

  • Isthmus puts on the annual Yum Yum fest. Profits go towards Madison Parks Foundation. Tons of food, drinks, and music. Tickets $10, food items additional $5.

August 28

  • Stone beer dinner at Oliver’s Public House. The last beer dinner I went to here was fantastic, and with Stone just restarting Wisconsin distribution this is a great chance to try their stuff. Call Oliver’s for reservations
