July Beer Events

The fireworks may be over, but your summer beer drinking has just begun! New breweries, new beers, and new fests have taken over the Madison area. Here are a few highlights: New Breweries

  • Lone Girl in Waunakee is now open AND pouring their own stuff. They currently have 6 Lone Girl brews on tap including a stout, IPA, and two wheat beers. Check out the rooftop patio!

New Beers

  • Next Door Brewing is adding more pineapple to their new round of Motha Pucka pineapple sour blonde and it's a trillion times better. Check it out. (Also, they serve their sasy bird sandwich on a Stella's mini spicy cheese roll. Yum)

  • Ale Asylum just tapped a Belgium-style ale Triple Nova called Euphoria that rings in at 9.8% at the brewery

  • Dead Bird Brewing's Left on the Vine Watermelon Wheat is now at Growlers to Go Go on East Washington

  • Rockhound has reformulated their Mosquito Bite IPA and it's back on tap (They are also now open 7 days a week)

  • Look for Bent Kettle Brewing to release their Coconut Porter in the near future

New Fests (links to tickets on event calendar page)

  • Milwaukee Firkin Fest 7/23

  • Milwaukee Brewfest 7/30

  • Great Taste of the Midwest 8/13, hoping you all had better luck than I did in the lottery

  • Potosi Brewfest 8/27, early bird ticket price ends on 7/31

Events around town

  • Summer Celebration at One Barrel with Mad Badger BBQ today 7/9

  • If you were able to get tickets for bottles of Tradeship by Funk Factory a week ago, the release will be at O'so Brewing on 7/23. Even if you didn't get bottle tickets, you should still make it to the release. The taproom opens at noon and there will be bottle sharing, lots of great sours on tap, and tours of the brewery at 2, 3, and 4pm

  • Maybe you don't want to drive all the way to O'so, but you love sours. Brasserie V has a sour and funky beer week event going on now through the 9th

  • Stone Brewery is now distributing to Wisconsin so look for its beers around town in stores and on tap. Word on the street is they will be having a beer dinner at Oliver's Public House in the upcoming months but no details released on their website yet. Keep your eyes open

Non-Beer Events

  • August 8th Nau-Ti-Gal is hosting the 5th Top Shelf Summer Taste. From 6-9pm and for $30 get unlimited samples of summer cocktails and food out on the restaurant’s outdoor patio and lawn

  • I may be from the midwest, but I love tacos. Luckily for me, Robin Room has El Grito Taqueria’s taco truck on Thursdays and Gib's has a taco night every Tuesday

  • Estrellon has a special burger every Wednesday. It’s not on the menu, they don’t make many, and it’s awesome.

  • Each Other is a group of chefs from around town that came together to create a "pop-up" restaurant, currently having dinner service on Sundays at Sol's on the Square. They forage as much as possible, and what they can't is bought local (the handmade bread and local raw butter is AMAZING). There are typically 4 courses served and when I went it was one of the best meals I've had in recent months. $35/person (cash only) and a selection of beer and wine is available for purchase. They have had offers to serve at other restaurants around town so follow them on Facebook and Instagram to keep up to date. Reservations are preferred; email eachothermadison@gmail.com to get your spot. Look in the future for a possible collaboration with Madison Angling Experience and locally caught fish on the menu :)
